Looking to save on your electric bill? Carroll Electric has created a device and a program called "Kill a Watt". Local residents can check out this device from local libraries, including Minerva, Scio, New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugar Creek and Tuscarawas. The program was featured in a recent article in the Canton Repository.
Carroll Electric offers device to gauge electric use
Carroll Electric has had a Kill A Watt rental program in place for two years, but the program has been limited to cooperative members. Now Carroll Electric has donated several devices. The devices now are property of the libraries and will follow their individual guidelines for loan periods. Patrons must have a valid library card in order to borrow a Kill A Watt device through this program.
The Kill A Watt device plugs into a wall outlet, then an appliance or electronic is plugged into the device. The device then monitors how much electricity the appliance is using and displays the result on a small screen, showing both the killowatt-hour use and the associated cost.
Libraries offering the devices for loan include: Minerva Public Library, Puskarich Public Library in Scio and the Tuscarawas County Public Library branches in New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugar Creek and Tuscarawas. For more information, call 1-800-232-7697 or visit www.cecpower.coop.
