Did you wait until the first hot day to turn on the air conditioner? Is a quick checklist on what to do the first time you turn on the A/C for the Summer for maximized efficiency.
It starts outside:
1. Head outside and clan the A/C unit, removing any leaves, sticks and debris which may have accumulated over the Winter.
2. Once that is done, go back inside and replace your furnace filter. This will ensure increased efficiency all Summer long.
3. If you turned off your indoor breaker and outdoor switch for the Winter, you will want to turn those back on at least a day before using the air conditioner for the first time.
4. Be sure to open all vents throughout your home or business.
5. If you have fans, flip the switch from the heating to cooling position.
6. Head to the thermostat, switch from heat to cool, set your desired temperature and enjoy! Warm weather is finally here!
